The Hopeful River Initiative (HRI)
About
The Hopeful River Project is an ambitious initiative that addresses river pollution and its impacts on human health and livelihoods in Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. It is a collaboration of a diverse group of professionals who are combining to create a new and different way to make a lasting difference on the people and river ecosystem of the Tinishu Akaki River basin.
Launched in 2006 EC (2014 GC) as a volunteer project has been engaging the necessary local actors to create momentum for a healthy river ecosystem that supports a healthy urban community.
